Monsoon Special - Cycle ride near Banerghatta -- Begur n Lake area
Monsoons have arrived in South India and it is the perfect time to ride. After shifting from Chennai - Summers in Bangalore was terrible. Of course - not as bad as Chennai.
I use to cycle on Sundays - but the heat used to creep in early morning.
The Strava stuff
Thanks to Amit , a cyclist in Office who introduced me to Strava. I had heard about it earlier but never new how to operate, guess - age is catching up,,huh. It was a perfect time to head out on the Monsoon ride with use of Strava.
About Gottigere (Near Banerghatta Road)
My flat is right at the tip of Banerghatta Road - Gottigere. A perfect location for anyone who wants to get connected to the highways of South India and further and of course - those who want Nature - far from the concrete jungle - this is the place. Gottigere has lot of off road tracks that can be explored
1. Bangalore Harohalli route
2. Bangalore Begur stretch
3. Bangalore Electronic City route
Has loads of lakes around which gives it a charm to the landscape.
The Ride.
All set to ride by 6:30 AM. I thought of taking a smaller route this time as i was hooked to Strava. So wanted to test it for the 1st time. GPS on ,,,,
I took the underpass - Nice road heading towards the road to Electronic City, a small stretch that goes downhill with a good steep climb overlooking the quarry. Once on the Begur- koppa road towards Electronic City, i took a left in front of the Petrol bunk. It's a good downhill with a few villages and lots of trees. It was a good speed ride to the main road - u have to be careful - watch out for the brakes.
Once at the base - on the right was - Begur lake. Lake looked superb in the wee hours. Only a few people sitting by the lake.
Checked if my Strava app. was working.
Once again crossed over bridge overlooking the Nice road. A nice stretch to overlook the Nice Highway and Electronics City.
Took a break for a while.
I head further from to get connected on the Manipal County road and further to Begur Koppa road.
Once upon a time - the road was deserted and very few used to venture out in the evenings. Thanks to the massive development in the area - Concrete Jungle !!!
Anyways - the morning was a bit calm with no traffic. I zoomed by this stretch to head further.
As i was checking the distance covered in Strava - gave an extra push to go by around the new places - near Hirnandani and DLF apartments are.
This is a new block - looks very swanky with lots of shops around. I soon joined the Lake Road which merges to Doddakamanahalli.
It was good round about.
It was my 1st ride in the monsoons and had a good experience with Strava.
